This is home, truly.

Since it's National Day, I guess I should do an "I Love Singapore!" post. Despite being home the whole day, I didn't watch the NDP because, well, I simply got sick of it. I never liked the performances (except the marching and fireworks) and my family is not half as patriotic as I am, so I find it weird to recite the pledge alone at 8+. Just managed to catch Kit Chan's Home on Youtube. Really awesommmme! My fav National Day song of all time! How can you not cry when you watch this and feel every lyric? My heart is like beating to the rhythm of the song totally.

Okay, enough of the exaggeration, but you get what I mean.

Then I had to come across this thing:

Which provided a good comparison. Of what happens when we try too hard.

Really, you don't have to try so hard to connect with the youths. We don't need hip-hop "This is home, check it out, truly, in da house yo, where I know, I must be chigga boom". I secretly think JJ Lin didn't feel great doing that. (Anyway, what's with the outfit?) I think he yearns to do a touching rendition of "Home". They should have put it at the end totally (if it's not the last item), with fireworks up in the sky when she finishes "And this is where, I know, (1...2...3...) I'mmmmmm HOMEEEEEEE~" (wooosh cues for fireworks). So perfect.
