The Innocence Project

The break is finally here! (Who misses Garfield?)

But I already have my to-do list ready. Sort of. The things I need to do in the break, aka projects, revision, catch-up with webcasts and the list goes on (and never ends). But finally, a break! And a break which doesn't make me feel that I'm going to end up with more work if I take a break.

Yesterday's lecture was really interesting. We were talking about the applications of PCR (brings back memories?) and the leturer explained about the OJ Simpson Case. I first heard about the case in secondary school but it never bothered me enough to make me find out more. It's one of those things at the back of your mind, like after I revise, finish projects, prepare work, surf facebook to relax, watch tv blah blah blah THEN I'll do kind of things. I was so glad he explained it.

And there was the Innocence Project. Click on it, won't take you too much time to surf. It's a project to exonerate the wrongly accused who were put into jail for crimes they did not commit. My lecturer showed us the profile of this guy called Waters whose story was made into a movie called "Conviction". I hope they show it in Singapore. I read that his sis worked hard to put herself into law school to clear her brother's name, and it was very touching. However he died soon after he was released, half a year if my memory is reliable. Still, we'll never know if 6 months of freedom means more to him as compared to (?) years more in jail. (:

If you have the time go take a look! (:
